Century/InterCounty Title Agency, Inc. in Pine Brook only provides title and mortgage loan settlement services. We do not offer these closing services in our Freehold Office. We believe it is important to have an attorney represent you in your real estate matters, as a practical matter we must offer real estate settlement services for mortgage refinances to stay competitive today. Therefore, closings are prepared in our office in Pine Brook by secretaries or title officers who have years of experience handling such matters. A title officer from our office conducts the closing. Funds are disbursed through our trust account unless an attorney is involved and chooses to use his or her trust account. Our staff attends to after closing details such as recording documents, paying off old mortgages, filing cancellations or discharges, and paying off taxes.

Although not required, Century/InterCounty encourages all customers to consult legal counsel. Your transaction is an important one. Particularly when you are purchasing a new home, legal issues will likely come up. We cannot give legal advice or answer legal questions.

We can, however, prepare and conduct your closing for you, working with your attorney to resolve title issues. If you do not have an attorney, we can refer you to one when it becomes necessary. We will also respect your choice not to consult an attorney. If you decide to consult an attorney before legal problems surface, we will prepare for and conduct the closing efficiently, freeing your attorney to focus on those aspects of the transaction which require his or her legal expertise.

The Cost

As title insurance agents, all of our fees are regulated by the State of New Jersey, Department of Insurance. Discounts and refunds for the cost of services preformed are prohibited. Title search costs and premium charges are discussed on another page. The fees for closing services are as follows:

  • When we conduct a closing or settlement in our office during regular business hours (9am - 5pm), using our trust account to make disbursements on your behalf, the fee is $300.00.
  • For out of office, add $25.00 plus tolls, parking or similar expenses and mileage at $.32 per mile.
  • For closings outside of regular business hours (9am - 5pm), add $50.00.
  • Notary fees are $15.00 and an additional fee of $5.00 for each document sent for recording, but not more than $10.00 total.
  • There may be a few other fees or charges called, pass throughs, for such things as government recording fees and overnight delivery charges.
